Things you'll need
*Oscilloscope
*10:1 Scope testprobe with clamp
*A set of prescion srewdrivers
*Phillps Srewdriver
*A PS2 utility disc
*SKILL AND EXPERIENCE USING AN O-SCOPE
ACCESSING THE TEST POINT ON THE DRIVE CONNECTOR PCB BOARD
1.) Alright Remove the bottom nad top cover by removing the srews and small plastic covers.
2.) Remove the metal rfi-shielding at the bottom (pcb) side.
3.) Unplug the flat wire band from the drive connector by lifting off the clamp bride ( DO THIS VERY CAREFULLY)
4.) Turn the board around and dismount the drive by removing the two srews holding it.
5.) Turn the board back to the bottom side and plug the wire band back to the connector.
6.) Place the drive in a way that you can access the drawer, withut comprimising the wire band, and without shorting out anything on the baord. (something non-conductive)
Insert the PS2 Utlilty disk, (you should have got one when you bought it.)
Power on your PS2
By placing your probe on the TP, you should see the eyepattern signal on your O-scope. Wait until the disc is completely booted to get an accurate and stable pictur on you SCOPE.
Turn the resistor marked "CD" clockwise util you get the maximum undistorted "eye-pattern". If you get a distorted signal just turn back a bit until it becomes stable and clear..
Whew! Ok now the CD Laser bariable resistor that controls the laser power when playing a CD is adjusted.
Replace the Utitlty Disc with the DVD and reset the console. Now do the same adjustments as above but use the variable resistor marked "DVD" this time.

EYEPATTERN amplitude (A) set to | 800mV Vpp for DVD | and 640MV VPP for CD
